Busy Month!

IMG_2027

Emma has had a very busy month.  She is growing so fast and learning so many new things.  Everything she gets her hands on goes into her mouth. Her favorite things to chew on are Mommy’s and Daddy’s fingers. Emma has also been rolling over a lot!  She’s very good at getting from her back to her stomach, but hasn’t quite figured out how to go from tummy to back consistently.

She had an exciting week with the girls.  Daddy went to Wyoming on a fishing trip, so Aunt Annie came to visit and Aunt Audrey came to stay for the summer.  She got lots of attention and got to go shopping with the girls.  She also got to spend the night away from home for the first time. Emma wasn’t quite sure what to think about sleeping in a different place, but she did ok.

The next big adventure will be making the move to Kentucky.  That will happen in a couple of days.  We hope Emma will adjust quickly to living in a new place.  We’re certain she will adjust before Max will.  We will miss our friends, our church, and our home in Greenfield, but we know that God has a plan for us.

Easter Fun

Well, Emma had her first official holiday... Easter! She loved getting dressed up in her new skirt (or maybe we liked dressing her up :D). She also loved all the attention she got from the visiting family members. She had grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends all come to visit her.

Here are Grandparents watching Emma watch the mobile. I don't know who was having more fun Emma or the granparents. :)

Here is Emma in one of mommy's old dresses. She is wearing it a month earlier than mommy did.

Here is a video of Emma playing with her toys. She has started reaching out for them, hitting them, and putting them in her mouth. Sometimes she entertains herself for 30 minutes or so, laughing and playing with her activity gym. (Sorry if it's a little blurry, I took it with my phone.)

6 Weeks

Miss Emma is growing like crazy! She has been wearing 3 month clothes for about a week now, and she seems to change every day. I gave her an unofficial weigh-in, and she is over 11 lbs. She has started grasping at toys, watching Max, TV, following the sound of our voice, and smiling when she sees us.

We've had a few fussy days and nights, but for the most part, Emma has been an extremely easy baby. Or at least we think so, since this is our first, but we know we've been extremely blessed!

Emma has been out and about several times now. She started going to church when she was two weeks old, and loves the music! Today we went shopping for some new clothes for Rachel, and Emma came along to offer fashion advice. She ended up sleeping in the stroller the whole time.

3 Weeks Old!

Wow. I can't believe that Emma is 3 weeks old already! It seems like we were just sitting on the couch wondering if she would ever come. She has had a busy 3 weeks and is growing like a weed (probably because she wants to eat all the time)!

Uncle Tim and Aunt Annie came to visit last weekend, and Emma enjoyed all of the attention. Annie's parents said that Emma looks like Tim when he was a baby. Let's hope that they don't continue to see the resemblance as she gets older. :) (No offense to Tim.)

When Tim and Annie were here they cooked a couple of great meals for us and cleaned the kitchen every day. We told them they have a place to stay any time. :) Annie
also showed us some beautiful crosstiching she did for Emma's room.

Emma has been enjoying the bouncy seat that she received this week. She sleeps in
it, especially if the vibrator is turned on. She also likes looking at the toys
that hang above it. Also, the big news is that her umbilical cord fell off today,
so I'm sure we'll post at least one picture of her new belly button!

Week In Review

Emma has made it through her first busy week (and so have we)! She had her Grandma Jita visit all last week to help everyone get adjusted. Her Grandma Nancy came for dinner on Tuesday after she came home from the hospital. Max was excited to see Grandma Nancy too! On Friday Grandpa Bruce, Great Grandpa Wayne, and Great Grandma Opal came to visit. Great Grandpa Wayne was very proud that he was the first person to rock Emma in her new rocking chair, and Great Grandma Opal loved looking at all the pictures we took. Grandpa Bruce enjoyed holding his new grandaughter and kept telling her how smart she is. On Sunday, Emma was visited by Aunt Audrey and Uncle Ben who loved taking pictures of her. She is looking forward to spending the summer with Aunt Audrey, who will be her nanny. Today we had our first doctor's visit. He said that Emma was perfectly healthy, and she has gained back all of her weight, which normally doesn't happen until babies are 2 weeks old.

Home

Emma is home and doing well. She is starting to get on a schedule, which is nice! In this picture, she is doing her impression of "The Thinker", haha.
Rachel will start posting to the blog soon, so the posts will probably get more interesting.
